Lake Mead Debris
With Lake Mead 140’ below is high water mark, as you walked across the recently revealed landscape, you could see the things that were carelessly and accidentally thrown overboard during years past. In the areas Chris hiked, there were hundreds of beer cans, with about 95% of the Coors, and most of those Coors Lite. Interesting that the cans with the beer that claims to be made with the crystal clear water of the Rockies was use to contaminate the clear waters of Lake Mead. Maybe the drinkers really didn’t care about the clear water…..
Sunglasses were another thing there were a lot of. I guess for all there practicality, people really don’t like Croakers. He also found lawn chairs…blown off a boat? A useful find was an abandoned anchor with chain. We didn’t need the anchor, but we salvaged the chain for one of our anchors that didn’t have chain.
I wonder what rock will look like millions of years from now when these man-made objects are subjected to the forces of nature and get compressed into new rock. Will they be discernable, or will the heat and pressure obliterate them?
There’s lots of inactive time to think on a boat.
